The 500 is the smallest thing worth renting here, and it earns its place on one brief: two people, a city base and short drives. Parking that defeats everything else is straightforward in it, which matters more in the older quarters of the capital and on the coast in August than any spec sheet does.

Its limits are honest ones. The rear seats are for short hops, the boot takes soft bags more happily than hard cases, and a full car on a three-hour mountain leg is not what it is for. Judge that from the listing photographs, which show the actual car rather than a stand-in, and check the gearbox on the same screen.

Take it for a week in the capital with lake and monastery days, or a coastal stay where parking is the daily problem. Skip it for the northern parks with luggage, or for four adults doing anything longer than lunch.
