The Clio is a small hatchback, and on a Podgorica rental that is usually the point rather than a compromise. The capital is easy to drive but its older streets are not generous, and a car that fits the gaps around Stara Varos is worth more on a two-week stay than any amount of extra power. Out of town it is at home on the roads these guides describe: the run south to Virpazar, the climb toward Ostrog, the fast road west to Niksic.
